How to Sell and Deliver eBooks

Comparison of eBook Delivery Vendors

BarbaraSelling ebooks is a wonderful business because your incremental inventory cost is zero. In other words, after the expense of writing the book, there is no additional manufacturing cost. The mistake many novices make, however, is thinking that they will simply email the book to each buyer. STOP!! If you are investing your labor into each ebook sale, you are MISSING the whole point. And what is the point? To have a business that will earn profits 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: whether you are volunteering in your child's classroom, or on an exotic vacation. When I'm asked about how to sell and deliver ebooks online, I recommend ClickBank. With ClickBank, you can accept credit cards online (you don't need your own merchant account), you can easily deliver ebooks and other digital products such as software, and you get an integrated affiliate system. Many of the biggest selling e-products use Clickbank because they handle everything, and simply mail YOU a check every two weeks.

PayPal, however, has greatly expanded their offerings in this field, and they are a cheaper alternative. The good thing about PayPal is that there is no setup fee, so it's easy to get started. The downside is that not everyone has a PayPal account, and so you are placing an additional barrier between you and the sale: your buyer must first register with PayPal. Another drawback to PayPal is that it does require some programming to integrate to their auto-download feature. But this problem (and several others) is easily solved by PayLoadz. If you are going the PayPal route, I recommend signing up for PayLoadz.

When you are ready to get your own merchant account, I highly recommend 1ShoppingCart because it integrates just about everything you will need to create a lean, mean online marketing machine. 1ShoppingCart customers rave about the auto-responders, newsletter management, ad tracking, affiliate program, and membership rebilling features.

Now, on to the ebook vendor comparison table.
